Welcome

Hello, my name is Stephen Szajna and welcome to my web site. I am an audio producer and engineer with more than 20 years of expert sound experience living and working in Southeastern Michigan and the Detroit metropolitain area.

The way that recording is done has changed drastically over the last ten years. Whether tracking in a big studio or editing in a home studio, expertise is what is needed to give your project the care and quality it deserves. While your job is to express your vision about your art or business; my job is to help you craft your record, commercial or any other sound project to be the best that it can be. You want your sound to be distinctive and crafted to fit your project. You want your audio guru to listen to you as carefully as to the speakers. As your personal AUDIO GURU I will provide your project with the highest quality production value. Leave your contact information, take a look around the site and let's discuss your sound, audio and music needs.

Some Background on the Friends of Porter Creasman Trust Fund – April 23, 2011
Hello Phriends,
My name is Steve Szajna. Last year, my close friend Brandon Creasman passed away leaving his Autistic son Porter behind. Michael Steinberg, Benjamin Rosenzweig and I decided to form a trust fund to help defray some of the larger medical and therapeutic costs that Porter would encounter in his life.
Brando was an awesome guitarist, singer and songwriter. As his engineer and producer we made 6 albums together. I know how very much he loved his son and how difficult it was for him to come to grips with his condition. When Porter was first diagnosed, Brando was determined to create a foundation. He wanted to see Autistic children and their parents get more support and education. He wanted to see the general public become more aware and properly informed about the condition. Sadly, he did not live to see his vision come alive.
We miss our pal and want to do what we can to help. This is the simple goal that has motivated us to build this trust fund and to put on this Benefit4Porter hootenanny. It’s Saturday April 30, at RKS Magnetic Recording Studio in Pontiac, MI.
If you go to http://4porterbenefit.eventbrite.com/ you can buy a ticket and get a map with directions to the studio. If you can’t make it, buy a ticket anyway. We recommend $20 but the site will take whatever amount you choose to donate, and the money will go straight to Porter’s trust fund. Naturally you can also purchase a ticket and make your contribution at the door.
In doing our research, we found that a trust fund is not a simple thing. You have a pretty good idea how high the cost of specialized medical care, education and therapy are these days. So this won’t be a “diaper fund” or a “mad money” account. Our goal is to establish a stable investment that will be there to give Porter more options for appropriate care as he grows, and to defend against unforeseen costs that may be encountered. We may create a larger tax-deductible type of charitable organization but that day is down the road. In the mean time we’re throwing a party and asking you to kick down a little “fund-age” to help.
Lots of guys who worked with, learned from or just jammed with Brando will be performing on Saturday. The list is growing and I’ll post details about the show lineup in another post shortly. There are also many other musicians that wanted to participate but could not. Regardless, all of them are making profound contributions to this project.
I want to also single out and thank John Grenke of Monaghan P.C, Mark Baykian, of RKS Magnetic, Mark Harper of the Black Lotus Brewery and Howard Lutz, for material and emotional support.
We will also have some raffles of some generously donated goods and gifts that you will enjoy. I really hope you will join us for a fun evening and I hope this gives you a better idea of what we are about. Porter’s a great little boy and his progress and his growth have been a ray of sunshine for me since our mutual loss.
Peace,
Steve Szajna

Celebrate Lag Ba'Omer with the music of Yosil Rosenzweig and the Kosher Gravy Company
Thu Apr 29 2010

After 40 years of playing jewish music, playing 100's of concerts, having dozens of other Jewish bands and Jewish singers play his songs, Rabbi Yosil Rosenzweig is finally recording an album.
He will be playing a concert at Magnetic Recordings studio as a CD release party. This concert will be on May 2nd (Lag Ba'Omer) and will be a very intimate experience. (Think VH1 StoryTellers meets your carlebach style Melava Malka.) This concert will also be recorded and produced as a DVD, so you will be a part of Jewish Music History.
The venue is a full service audio and video recording studio, which also holds attendees during the live recording.
There are couches and lounge chairs to sit in if you want, there is a great open dance floor if you feel like it. There are lots of wonderful distractions for your visual delight. There will be light snacks and drinks served during the show. VIP tickets come with Dinner. All food will be Kosher!
This is a Family Friendly Event... Kids under 12 come in free!
A portion of the proceeds from this show will go to benefit the Friendship House programs of the Friendship Circle.
There is going to be a rare collection of musicians from various bands and backgrounds playing at this show.
Ruby Harris from the Diaspora Yeshiva Band will be joining us.
Members of JamSamich and The American Gravy Company are playing this show as well.
Feel free to check out http://www.youtube.com/user/WhyYouJam for videos of practices sessions and other fun stuff. And check out www.WhyYouJam.com for more information and to stay up to speed on the release of the album and DVD!

New Samples of Recent Work
Wed Jul 2 2008

We just posted two new samples from recent projects.

"2143" by Aventity is a hard core metal fest I'm sure many will enjoy. They've released an EP and you can find them at http://www.myspace.com/aventity.

"Black Silk" by Madame XD features Chinese erhu virtuoso Xiao Dong Wei. Her tone and playing are amazing and this group is going to open a lot of ears. You can find her and more of her music at http://www.myspace.com/madamexd.

I recorded and mixed both of these projects and they're more proof that really vital and exciting music is happening in Detroit.

Go to my Music Samples page at http://www.szdynasty.com/samples.php to hear these and other really cool things I've been fortunate enough to work on.
